Glendon Demolition Derby is back this Saturday

It’s one of the province’s biggest and best demolition derby shows — and it’s back for another year of getting muddy this Saturday.

Glendon is the site of the Demolition Derby and Mudbogs event this weekend put on by the Glendon Ag Society, with a full day of community events tied into the action.

The pancake breakfast starts everything at 8:00 at the Senior’s Hall. Farmer’s Market at the RCMP Hall from 8:00 until noon.

The village parade starts at 10 o’clock and will congregate at Glendon School.

Afterwards, the fireman’s barbecue will be serving the food right after the parade.

The grounds open at 11:00am so you can claim your spot.

The driver’s auction will take place at 12:30 which will allow you to bid on the derby car you think will be the big winner. Those who bid on the winner take home 50 per cent of the entire pot.

“There’s some volunteers that we require, everything from parking to cutting grass and doing all this,” said Glendon Ag Society president Ken Pshyk.

“It allows all the clubs to come in and take part, as well as the 50/50 and cleanup. Pretty much every club, they’ll be here.”

The mudbogs and derby vehicles will be pulled into the ring to see the “best dressed.”

Those who win their heat will advance, while those who don’t get moved into the consolation pool.

Two classes of mudbogs: stock and modified will be running.

Food vendors will be on-site, as well as bouncy houses.

Intermission performance will be Dynamo Small Engine with the lawnmower races.

You can watch a little sneak preview as this week on Caitlyn Tries, as she got in a derby car of her own.
