Multiple CF-188 Hornet aircraft from 409 Tactical Fighter Squadron are scheduled to conduct a ceremonial flyby for the anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

It will take place above the Legion Cenotaph on 10th Street, Cold Lake, at approximately 10:50 a.m., on Sunday September 17, 2023.

The annual commemorative parade and ceremony honours the anniversary of the Battle of Britain, a tradition of great significance for all members of the Royal Canadian Air Force community.

The format will include an address from the 4 Wing Commander, a reading of “High Flight”, laying of the wreaths and weather permitting, a flyby.

The flyby will be at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest obstacle over ground level and run from northeast to southwest.

Royal Canadian Air Force flybys are carefully planned and closely controlled to ensure public safety at all times. The RCAF is proud to share in special events, which allows us to demonstrate the capabilities of our personnel and aircraft to Canadians.

Aircraft participation is subject to weather and operational requirements.
