Cold Lake Man Charged after Golf Club Attack

On June 8th, at 12:30 pm, Cold Lake RCMP were called to a report of a male that was in possession of a golf club and had smashed the windshield of a vehicle and had swung at two men, who were also on scene. S/Sgt. Jeremie Landry, of the Cold Lake Detachment, says the incident escalated even more from there.

“The report was he then pulled a butcher knife and threatened one of the men.” The male had fled the scene, on 48th street in Cold Lake, but it didn’t take long for police to find him, explains S/Sgt. Landry, “he was quickly arrested a short time later by RCMP.”

Arrested and charged is 23 year old, Adrien Lafond. Charges that have been laid are, three counts of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief under $5,000. Lafond was held in custody after a hearing before a Justice of the Peace, his next court date is June 22nd in Cold Lake.
